Sitecore Roles

Flex Editor

Your basic author. Will only have access to Page Editor in Flex and can only create pages.

Flex Designer

Will have access to Page Editor and Component Editor.

Flex Developer

Will have access to all functions, including Template Editor and Settings.

Basic Administration

A basic user should have at least the Flex Editor and the Sitecore Client Authoring roles. Also remember to assign item level security if certain editors should only have access to certain sections.

Roles can be configured under the User Manager app, accessible via the Sitecore launchpad.
